A digital computer consists of three parts : |
1. Store 2. Executive Unit 3. Control |
The store is a store of information and memory. The executive unit is a part which carries out the various individual
operations involved in a calculation. And it is the duty of the Control that the instructions fed to the machine are
obeyed correctly and in the proper order. |
The numbers operated on by a digital computer are expressed
in the binary system. |
Every computer has a set of instructions that define the basic functions it can perform.
Sequences of these instructions constitute machine-language programs that can be stored in
the computer and used to tailor it to an essentially unlimited number of specialized applications.
