| An equation
is a symbolic statement that two quantities are equal in value.
When an equation is true for a values of the letters, it is
an identity, for example : 4a + 9a = 13a. However, when this
is not the case, it is known as a Conditional Equation. |

x + 5 = 3x - 3. In this case the formula is true only if x = 4. Only then 4 + 5 = 12 - 3 or 9 = 9.
