The rate at which a solid goes into solution is proportional to the surface exposed on the solid. It follows, therefore, that
the solubility of a lead frit, when determined by the standard method will be approximately proportional to its specific surface.
|
It has been shown expreimentally that the Podmore Factor for a given frit is a constant irrespective of the fineness of
grinding and it is, therefore, a useful measure of the intrinsic solubility.
